A multi-figure composition carved of linden wood, subsequently painted and varnished. It depicts the crucifixion of Jesus.
Unlike traditional folk artists, Roman Śledź sculpts collective portraits. He works with precision, using a single wooden log. Each sculpture is different, despite addressing exactly the same topic. He is called a master of the Road of the Cross. The point of departure for his works is faith and constant contemplation of the Gospel. He does not seek inspiration in church iconography, the composition arises from his deep experience and own interpretation of the biblical text. His sculptures are full of expression and realistic presentation of suffering, pain and despair.
