McLoughlin Brothers manufactured "The Air Ship Game" in 1912, just nine years after the Wright Brothers made their first manned flight at Kitty Hawk. When McLoughlin made this game, many Americans knew about the Wright's famous flight and they probably recognized an image of the Wright Flyer. So McLoughlin depicted Mother Goose, as well as her gander, inside a Wright Flyer on this game's box cover illustration. The game board itself features an image of another kind of airship: a hot air balloon.
