The broadcasing company RCA (Radio Corporation of America) purchased the Victor Talking Machine company in 1929. Victor made the famous Victrola record player and was the first producer of phonograph records. Along with this came the New World rights to use of the company's trademark symbol, the dog Nipper. The most famouse image of Nipper was a great candidate for a jigsaw puzzle subject in 1933, and RCA produced the puzzle as advertising. It may have been a premium with a purchase. Figural pieces within the puzzle include letters spelling "Victor" and several silhouettes of Nipper and the Victrola machine.
