"The Six Million Dollar Man" was a successful television series, starring Lee Majors, which ran from 1974 to 1978. Based on the novel "Cyborg" by Martin Caidin, the series fostered several later TV movies and a spin-off series, "The Bionic Woman," starring Lindsay Wagner. Like many such action adventure series, both also gave rise to many licensed toys, dolls, and games. A jigsaw puzzle marketed in a cylindrical container is just one example.

The show's introduction featured a descriptive quote, " Gentlemen, we can rebuild him. We have the technology. We have the capability to build the world's first bionic man. Steve Austin will be that man. Better than he was before. Better, stronger, faster."
