Johannes Bugenhagen

Luther's close friend and confessor, Johannes Bugenhagen, was elected parish priest of Wittenberg on the recommendation of the reformer and in this function concluded his marriage with Katharina von Bora. He baptized their children and finally delivered the eulogy on Luther. As a reformer he developed the church orders for numerous North German cities, helped translate the Bible into German, and crowned the first Protestant king, Christian III of Denmark and Norway.
