Joint Unit With Clothing (Unidad Yuna con Ropaje), belonging to the series of the same name, integrates two separate volumes arranged facing one another. The front faces of these volumes create profiles which complement each other when they come together, both bodies joining together and uniting. This represents communication with the other, an interpretation supported by the fact that Serrano placed both halves on a mobile surface which, when moved, allows the parts to unite. He also applies a different finish to the materials that must be interpreted within the meaning of the series. The artists reserves the piece's most delicate treatment—burnished bronze—for when the faces gaze at each other. This is where communication arises. The exterior has a rugged finish made of dark patina, contrasting with the reflectiveness of the interior face. As stated by the artist: "People who communicate, live together, shapes that adapt to one another, nuclei which together form a bright polished contact unit, nuclei with shapes united through these interior spaces which adjust, squeeze into one another, which can integrate into communities or which can be individuals."
