Portrait bust of Thayendanegea/Joseph Brant (1742-1807) by Charles Willson Peale. In native American dress, body turned slightly left, head three-quarters left. Mostly shaved head with black hair & white feather tied in scalp lock with yellow, red, & green stripes. Black headband with 2 rows of interlocking silver rings; white rose with pink center & red rose with leaves & stems tucked in headband at temple at viewer's right. Black stripes of face paint on forehead.
