Josie Heath
Community Leader
1937 -
INDUCTED 2000

Since 1970, Josie Heath has made Colorado history as a community activist, educator, and political contender who is committed to improving the quality of life of Colorado citizens.

When Heath ran for Democratic nominee in the race for U.S. Senate in 1990 and 1992, she was bound to redefine the gender of Colorado politics. Although the state was not ready for a woman Senator then, Josie has remained a relentless force for uplifting women ever since – as Boulder County Commissioner, director of the Women’s Center at Red Rocks Community College, and now president of the Community Foundation of Boulder.

I am the candidate] “. . . who is going to offer a different kind of politics -- somebody to hitch their star to again.“ – Josie Heath, 1990 Senate campaign
