Portrait of "José Baquíjano y Carrillo" (Lima, 1751-Sevilla, 1817). Doctor in Law from the University of San Marcos (1765), where he was also professor in Law chair. He is considered precursor of the independence of Peru because of the reformist ideas that he disseminated through his chair. He was founder of the Amantes del País Society and El Mercurio Peruano (1791).
