José Saramago

Hélder Carvalho was born in 1954, lives and works in Porto. He graduated in Fine Arts from the School of Fine Arts of Porto, where he was student of Alberto Carneiro, Zulmiro de Carvalho, Fernando Pernes, Flávio Gonçalves, Álvaro Lapa and Jorge Pinheiro, among others. Was linked to artistic education, as a teacher in secondary and higher education while taking investigated as an artist, expressive language means especially in the context of three-dimensionality. In 2006 he completed a master's degree in "Art Craft and Design Education" at the University of Roehampton in London. Currently he is dedicated exclusively to the practice of fine arts giving preference to the work of sculpture and where the practice of modeling is constituted as the expression technique longer in use. The production methods are varied as it depends on the purpose and concept that underlies it. So we can find in his work on objects made of various materials such as bronze, iron and other metals, polyester, marble or wood, with the corresponding use of techniques that are suited to him. It is represented in various public and private institutions and has been referenced in magazines and specialty dictionaries.
