Lee Wen is a performance artist who was born in Singapore. This work is the 5th installation- performance series "Journey of a Yellow Man" which he did continuously from the 1990s journeying through the world. He painted his body in yellow, wore a red chain and carried white rice in his hand.
Through this performance, he questions his identity as a person living in the multi-ethnic country of Singapore, and looks for freedom from the various social power system that binds him like a chain, while also commenting on the bottomless consumption of food and its crisis caused by us who take rice as our staple diet.
