Leon the Priest is dressed in a cassock and cape, over which he is wearing the grand crosses and ribands of the Orders of Isabella the Catholic and the Chaplains of Honor, in addition to the medal of senator. This portrait by López is simple and elegant, and is undoubtedly one of the best clerical portraits from the artist's later years, painted when he was 68.
