Juan Martín de Goicoechea

Francisco de Goya y Lucientes1790

Museo de Zaragoza

Museo de Zaragoza
Zaragoza, Spain

The artwork has the interest of the portrayed character who represents a friend and is also closely linked with Zaragoza.
The character is represented who poses in a three-quarter position visiting a brown coat and on his chest the cross of Carlos III, which was granted to him in 1789 and imposed by José de Pignatelli in a solemn act celebrated in the Church of the Royal Seminary of San Carlos. The right hand is partially inserted through the jacket. The certainly bright face stands out, contrasting with the browns of the coat and the dark and neutral background of the set.
