Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka, five separate cases consolidated under a single name, addressed racial segregation in public schools. One year and two weeks after the ruling that racial segregation in public schools was unconstitutional, the Supreme Court issued this decree regarding the implementation of that ruling. Desegregation would be controlled by federal district judges in the affected areas. Although this decree did not set a timetable, it called for desegregation to be implemented "with all deliberate speed."
