This one-handled jug with a cylindrical neck and spherical body is from the Zafranales settlement in Fraga, Huesca, and dates from around the 11th century. The population, who were Muslim in origin, built on top of a previous settlement from the Bronze Age. Jars of this type were household items used to hold and serve liquids. The base is slightly convex, and decorative horizontal grooves are cut into the rim. There are also lines of manganese on the neck and the upper part of the body.
