Julia Lambert (1792–1861) was the sister of Susan Crookshank, wife of the Hon. George Crookshank (1773 – 1859), businessman and politician. Upon Susan’s death in 1840, Julia moved from the United States to Toronto to help raise the children, George, age 15, and Catherine, age 10. Her portrait along with her fine furniture, silver, books, drawing box, writing desk, clothes, gold watch and jewellery were willed to her "beloved niece Catherine Crookshank […] to be her own forever."
