Juvenile space cadets will probably cast envious eyes on this latest General Electric atomic attire now in vogue at the huge plutonium-producing plant here, operated by GE for the Atomic Energy Commission. Plastic, balloon like suits provide protective barriers against radiation in "hot" areas and permits a man to determine extent of contamination and do clean-up and maintenance work in such areas. "Train" in rear is flexible plastic tunnels from suit to entrance port in wall. It provides air and serves as an entrance and exit passage. Air mask worn is used only if, by some accident, the suit becomes torn or punctured. Suit and tunnel remain inflated because air inside contaminated areas is at a lower pressure then air on the outside. This pressure differential is maintained to assure that any flow of air will be into contaminated area rather than out.
