[inglês][datilografado] Dear Mr. Portinari: With this letter I have taken the liberty of enclosing a sheet of postage stamps thet have been issued to commemorate the life of one of our great artists, Gilbert Stuart. Although a stamp collector for many years, I have but recently embarked upon a new collection which I desire o enlarge as a treasured possession for my son. I hope to present him with most of the commemorative stamps from all over the world, signed by the most eminent men and women of the lands – men and women who symbolize the thought behind the issue. In keeping with the significance of the enclosed stamps, this collection would have little meaning without your honored signature on the margin as one of the truly great artists of our time. I am indeed humble in the fact that among the great men who have already honored me with their signatures are President Dwight Eisenhower, Mr. Henry Moore, Mr. Henri Matisse, Mr. Arturo Toscanini, Mr. Jean Sibelius, Mr. Thomas H. Benton, Mr. Albert Schewertzer and Mr. William Zorach.
