In this painting the subject is exalted by the golden colour of the background. In the background its gigantic shadow stands out like a halo that gives importance to that poor body, inebriated by alcohol and smoke. The scene that isolates man and places him in a sad solitude corresponds to the human one which is ennobled by the brushstroke with fast touches, free and almost anarchic.
