The Rockefellers were fond of marine and seascapes, decorating their master bedroom with several works depicting the sea and boats, including one of their own yacht 'Dauntless'. Some of the seascapes were inherited by Mary Rockefeller from her family; other such as this one by Ferguson, were purchased by the Rockefellers.
