The temple is known for its meticulously crafted sculptures that adorn its walls and pillars. It houses 64 different forms of Shiva, namely gajasamharamurti, somaskanda, lingotbava, dakshinamurty, tripurantaka, gangadara, bikshandava etc. It houses the earliest form of Jyesta Devi, otherwise known as Bhoodevi, as that particular form of worship, flourished in Pallava times.
