The artist accompanies this work with the following essay:
"My God! They chase you your whole life.
First, it’s your mother, the one who shapes and breaks your personality.
Then come your brides, who want to mold you until you fit into any cake pan…
And what does a poor guy do? He lets himself be kneaded for so long that he ends up convinced that the cripple he sees in the mirror isn’t himself, but his father—the one he never wanted to become.
Yes… and when you’re finally fully cooked, you say… Yes!
I said it from the beginning: damn upbringing…
No guts in the bones.
Mothers make men…
Mothers make yes-men…
Are you also one of those crippled yes-men, afraid to listen to yourself?
Afraid to admit that the YES you said was never really yours?
And now that you realize what a pathetic product of manipulation you truly are, you start whining…
At some point, I told myself the same thing… and I stopped believing that I was always too late… I was simply a late bloomer.
Better to ignite late than never move at all.
So I shook off the dust that had clouded my vision for so long.
And bang! Suddenly, I was 65… I couldn’t believe it…
Like a beaten dog, I crept into the pension office…
So now I’m officially a retiree… Well, at least €315…
I’m honestly embarrassed. To avoid being reminded of it every month, I generously handed over my pension to my first, impoverished, divorced wife."
