This slide is made from silk chiffon, hand decorated with nailhead brass katori sequins. Aari stitching is used on the main body of the slide, with curlicues hand stitched prior to assembly. As this garment is heavily and fully sequined, it was stitched in Mumbai, at the Mumbai embroidery workshop, so that any gaps in the sequinning could be fixed after making. An aari is a handmade needle, or hook, with a sharp point at one end, used to embroider fabric. It is loaded with beads or sequins and is then pierced through the fabric. The thread, which is under the fabric, is picked up in the hook of the needle.
