Kamala Harris being sworn in as Attorney General of California

Harris continued breaking barriers when she became attorney general of California. Sworn in on January 3, 2011 at the March Fong Eu Secretary of State Buildings in Sacramento, she was the first woman, the first African American, and the first South Asian American to hold the office in the state's history.
