Karditsa, Greece
“A municipal service for all women, without any discrimination”.
The Karditsa Women’s Center, a non-profit organization of the Municipality of Karditsa, was established in 1992 and has been operating continuously ever since, providing a broad range of supportive services to women in the area. It promotes equal opportunities, takes initiatives to combat discrimination and inequalities in the labor market, professional segregation, and the reconciliation of work and personal life. The Center provides counseling and support services for women’s integration into the job market. As a member of the local ecosystem, it supports female entrepreneurship through a comprehensive plan.
Supporting and empowering women who are survivors of gender-based or domestic violence, with comprehensive services from specialized counselors, is part of its mission. The Center undertakes initiatives that inform, educate, raise awareness, and engage both the general public and specialized professionals on issues of gender equality, prevention, and combating gender-based violence. These initiatives are part of its annual program.
Creating and activating collaboration protocols with organizations that support its goals and actions, as well as the continuous operation of a network of people, staff, and entities at local, regional, national, and international levels, to provide the best and most effective services to women, is a primary concern for everyone involved.
Its vision is for women and men to share equal rights and responsibilities in work, family, politics, power, and leisure.
