The radio mainly promoted classical music in its musical programming and dramaturgy. The members of the Radio Symphony Orchestra attended the Prague Spring every year from 1948 and the radio broadcast all concerts from this festival. Until 1954, the repertoire predominantly consisted of the works of Bedřich Smetana thanks to the efforts of Zdeněk Nejedlý.
