The scroll reads: "This province is under the rulership of the Ethiopian emperor called Priest John, who rules XV great realms, and all united together. These people were converted by Saint Philippe Apostle; they believe the lineage of their kings goes back to Salomon and the queen Saba. The first discoverer of this land was Sir Diego Lopez di Sequeira; this nation was gross and with little arts or crafts. But nowadays, due to the commerce of the Portoguese, they are industrious and are improving day after day." Photo: Rabatti&Domingie
