Lucombe oak (Quercus x hispanica ‘Lucombeana’) is a natural crossbreed between a turkey oak and a cork oak. This tree was moved about 20 metres from where it was initially planted at Kew. No, it did not sprout wings but was moved by the eminent Victorian landscape designer, William Nesfield, in the 1840s when he redesigned our Gardens.
