Kid Cudi was born Scott Mescudi in Cleveland, Ohio. He showed artistic talent early on and began rapping during high school. After a year in college, he moved to New York City to pursue a music career. In 2008, he released his first mixtape, A Kid Called Cudi, which introduced his positive, psychedelic-space-themed style. Cudi then began a string of guest appearances with artists including Kanye West, the Black Eyed Peas, and Solange.
