King of the fairies, Inis Mór, Aran Islands

This figure, made by an island man, from horsehair and felted wool, represents King Finvarra, the high king of the fairies in Irish folklore. He was seen as a largely benevolent figure who ensured good harvests and riches to those who assisted him.
