King of the Road AKA Tex's Motorcycle

Stevan Dohanos was a prolific illustrator of covers for the Saturday Evening Post magazine and US Postal Service stamp art. Dohanos’ painting, entitled King of the Road (known also as Tex’s Motorcycle), appeared on the cover of the April 7, 1951 issue of the Saturday Evening Post and is widely recognized as an important work of motorcycle art. The painting is currently on display in the Museum.
