As Judaism and Christianity, Islam promotes the ancient king Solomon as supreme, wise and just ruler. The painting transparently reveals the belief of Muslims that the king Solomon’s authority spreaded on not only humanity but also on animals’ and angels’ kingdoms. Images of Solomon’s court populated by all manner of creatures, celestial beings, and even demons, were very popular in the court of the Ottoman rulers of Turkey.
