This is an eerie oil painting by artist Walter Meegan of Kirkstall Abbey and passing tram. It was painted sometime between 1880 and 1899. By this time the old turnpike road had been replaced by the more modern Abbey Road.Meegan made a number of paintings of the abbey during the late 19th century all by moonlight.
