The chrysanthemum and butterflies are engraved on the mouth-piece and neck of kiseru. On the stem, beautiful violets decorated in maki-e can be seen. The Chinese characters depicted on the stem represent the name of a maki-e artist Yoyusai. He was one of representative maki-e craftsmen of the Edo period.
