This kiseru was made by Iwama Masayoshi, an artisan who specialized in the decoration of Japanese sword. He made this when he was 71 years old. A pine tree and a cicada are engraved on the kiseru. The sophisticated skill of the craftsman can be seen in cicada's wings, which are inlaid with gold.
