Kofar Mata dye pits

Kofar Mata Dye Pits compound is one of the many historical places in Nigeria. It is located close to the Emir's palace in Kano city center. Established in 1498, Kofar Mata dye pits are the only survivors of Kano's over 500 years old dye trade. It has become the hallmark of the ancient dyeing tradition in Nigeria.
