Komorebi

Komorebi : Japanese noun, meaning the interplay between light and leaves when sunlight shines through trees.

We always give
bouquets of flowers.

Today,
I make an offering
of a bouquet of foliage.

Day-dreaming
on my back,
on a rolling tumulus
of verdant green,
in a grove,
looking up
at a canopy of leaves,
as the dappled sun filters through,
creating a myriad mesh,
specks of gold,
chiaroscuro and sfumato.

I have picked
Sycamore leaves from the hills,
Mango leaves from the plains
and
Palm leaves
from the coasts
