The Korean spine loach is an endemic species of Korea. It has three pairs of whiskers on the corners of its mouth. It has an irregular cloud-like spotted pattern on its back. The caudal fin has small dark brown spots. The dorsal and caudal fins have three to four rows of horizontal stripes. They inhibit shallow waters with cold, clear sandy gravel or stony bottoms.
