The work comes from a series of woodcuts by Edmund Bartłomiejczyk. Most of its space is occupied by the figure of a blind man, Kozdroń, who was frequently immortalised by artists. To them, he symbolised a connection between the earthly and the spiritual. He was often presented the way he is depicted in this work, with his hands raised upwards in prayer. The artist placed Kozdroń at the marketplace in Kazimierz, with the parish church, well, fortified tower and the Three Crosses Hill in the background. Bartłomiejczyk managed to capture the light perfectly.
