At the Chess Olympiad in Manila in 1992, Vladimir Kramnik, just shy of his 17th birthday and only a FIDE Master at the time, won the gold medal as the first reserve with a rating performance of 2958, the best in the entire tournament. He scored 8 wins and one draw, with no losses.
