  • About the craft: Madhubani Painting is a ritualistic form of painting that was originally practised in the erstwhile Mithila region of India and especially in Madhubani district of Bihar, after which it is named. It was traditionally painted by women on walls during various rituals and ceremonies. The artform over the years evolved into paintings on paper and eventually other materials. The subjects of Madhubani art include different passages of life such as birth, marriage, as well as festivals including Holi, Kali Puja, Durga Puja, etc.
