Kurukulla

This deity, known in Sanskrit as Kurukulla, in Chinese as Zuoming-fomu or Zhixing-fomu and in Tibetan as lha-mo rig-byed-ma, is one of the goddesses of wisdom. The first to practice the Kurukulla Tantric ritual was the founder of the Sakyapa school Künga Nyingpo (kun-dga' snying-bo, 1092-1158), and later the image was adopted by all Tibetan religious schools. The deity has three eyes and four arms and the body is red and the upper torso is bare. In the upper two hands she holds red lotus blossoms, one arm is curved to shoot an arrow from a bow, and both the bow and arrow are covered with flower petals. The right leg is curved upwards and she stands balanced on the bent left leg. By practising her Dharma ritual, the adept can attain great karmic happiness, fulfill his or her desires and remove psychic obstructions.
