Kyōgen Costume for Tōjin-zumō,
Jacket and Trousers, dragon-medallion design, nishiki brocade and brown silk velvet.
Edo period, 17th C.
While most Noh take up themes from mythology or stories about famous people from the past, Kyōgen have as their subject the foibles of a Daimyo's servant and the daily life of commoners. This costume is for Tōjin-zumō (the Wresling of Chinese people).
