This mask has a plump and cheerful smiling face. The mask is worn by Ebisu, who appears on the stage in company with Daikoku as well as by Fuku-no-kami (a god of good fortune), who appears when tempted by the bean scattering ritual held on New Year’s Eve to drive out evil spirits and summon good luck. Deities in Kyogen come near to people and grant them blessings. They are portrayed as dependable beings.
