Arranged like a stage, this group of small modeled and painted wax shapes is a set inside a window display with two different environments, linked by a painted landscape. The first one, rough and with dense vegetation, has a couple of standing hunters that precede a noble knight with his falcon; they are going towards the second one, more of a domestic scene, where the Holy Family is dedicated to their daily tasks, unaware of the arrival of the party. The Virgin is embroidering, the Child is sweeping and Saint Joseph is working in his carpenter's bench. Saint Joseph's, the knight's and the couple's clothes place the scene in the 17th century, and it reminds of a literary text, maybe an "entremés " (interlude) or an allegoric play that will completely develop when the party will suddenly meet the Holy Family.
