The single leaf is painted on the recto with five framed vignettes. The central vignette is inscribed, 'La folie des dames de Paris' and shows a seated female figure having her tall wig powdered by a hairdresser perched atop a ladder. A male figure observes the scene through a telescope.
The image is a satirical commentary on the elaborate wigs and hairstyles that were fashionable at this time.

The verso is painted with a landscape within a vignette, hung from a purple ribbon.
