Brisé fan with cardboard sticks and horn guards, one guard complete with a stylus for recording dance partners directly on the verso. The surface of the fan bears a faint inscription: 'M. Gaibal'.

On the recto a hand coloured engraving of a giraffe with attendant refers to the gift of a giraffe (retrospectively named Zarafa) given by Muhammad (Mehmet) Ali Pasha of Egypt to King Charles X of France in 1827.
