    Colonial Secretary’s Office, Sydney, 1st February 1851. Sir, I have much satisfaction in transmitting to you, by direction of His Excellency the Governor, the accompanying copy of a despatch from Earl Grey in which his Lordship intimates that he has advised Her Majesty to appoint Your Honor to be the first Lieutenant Governor of the new Colony of Victoria.
