Before a Renaissance ornamented throne, the Virgin breastfeeds the Child, holding him on a white piece of cloth in her crossed arms. It was attributed to Isembrandt by Cesar Pemán. The composition comes from an original by the Master of Flémalle, although the original has not been preserved. Van Orley, born in Brussels, was active in the court between 1515 and 1530.
