Emile LaBranche opened LaBranche's Drug Store in 1907 at 716 N. Claiborne Ave. in New Orleans. LaBranche's store provided opportunities for other medical doctors to start their careers such as Clifford Belfield who, like LaBranche, was also a graduate of Straight College and Meharry Medical School. Belfield would follow in the footsteps of LaBranche and open his own store called Belfield's Pharmacy in 1930.
